WHO WE ARE

The MCC Faculty Association (FA), NYSUT/AFT Local #2842, is the union representing teaching and professional employees at Monroe Community College in Rochester, NY. We are affiliated with NYSUT, AFT, NEA & AFL-CIO. The FA has been the exclusive bargaining unit for teaching and professional staff at MCC since 1968. Prior to its formal organization under the Taylor Law in 1968, the FA was operational as early as 1964.

 

We have built a union of higher education professionals who work together to ensure quality working conditions, advance our professions, and maintain MCC's tradition of excellent public higher education. Our primary role is to promote the economic security and well-being of our membership through collective bargaining. Through collective bargaining and legislative advocacy we defend the values of public higher education, academic freedom and shared governance, workers’ rights, economic equity, and social justice.
